What was under the tree...

Hey Lovelies!
I hope everyone had a lovely holiday season whether it was christmas, hanukkah, or even winter solstice!  Since last week and a little of the week before I was spreading the joy of book sales introducing the other authors that are in my publishing company.  I figured I would share the books I received for the holiday since everyone on Goodreads and facebook are doing that!  You guys should comment and share what you all got!
Here are some books that I'll get to read for fun!  Yes they are all sequals to books that I already have, well minus The Crucible...  However I did get TWO copies of The Frogotten Locket (Book 3 of the Hourglass Door) and I'm either going to sell it or use it for a giveaway on here ;)

Oh! Oh! Lookie here I have joined the e-book world!  I'm still addicted to physical books, but for reviews or those books that I want that are just not available via physical book form!
Yes I realize I did not get End of the Line, Family Ties, or even Christmas Lites for christmas, but I didn't want to take apart books that were staying up!  In there is 5 screen writing books and one grammar book.  My one aunt wants me to start playing around with turning my books into screenplays, movies and such.  Could be fun :)

NonSense
by Mark Davis
Are you tired of being lied to? Do you think our politicians and business leaders are simply looking down their collective noses at the pathetic condition of “We the people” because we are just so lacking their collective superior intellect? Do you feel these titans of intellect are the problem and not the solution? If so, give this little book with big ideas, a read and see what you as an individual feel. Nonsense is a creative, enlightening, and inspirational book for the common man. The quoted scriptures from the bible come into play breaking down similarities between Biblical times and now. From time to time we all need to look at the big picture, what is really going on in this world, stop thinking about what you are told and see things for what they really are. This book helps to open your mind and really look at what is going on around us and to learn from the mistakes of the past. For it is us, as individuals, that can make the change to make a more suitable future in which we all must live. If we as a nation can not pull ourselves together then we as a nation will fall.

Interview Of Steven Cross:

I have been writing as long as I could hold a pencil, but my first work that received any public attention was a play about a werewolf that I wrote in the 8th grade. One of the English classes read it aloud.
2.where did you get the idea for this book?
Lancelot is a character that has always intrigued me. I never knew his history – why he was called Lancelot of the Lake. One day I got this image of a confused knight in the ruins of a city attacking a fire barrel because he mistakenly thought it was a dragon. Then I did a little research on Lancelot and the story just came together.
3. what is your favorite thing about writing?
The thing that I like most about writing is just the creating of something that wasn’t there before you wrote it. Characters, setting, conflict – seeing it all come to life gives me a great deal of satisfaction.

4.what is your favorite TV show?
My favorite t.v. show is Big Bang Theory because it’s just mindless, hilarious entertainment. As far as dramas go, my favorite is Once Upon a Time. I loved Lost when it was on, and I like this show nearly as much.
5.  what did you do when you got your acceptance letter from BCP?
I’m fairly low key. I don’t remember doing anything special when I got my acceptance letter besides muttering a prayer of thanks.
6.Growing up what was your favorite book?
My favorite books when I was younger were actually a series that I discovered when I was in fifth or sixth grade. I read every Alfred Hitchcock and the Three Investigators Book I could get my hands on. In high school, my favorite was Stranger in a Strange Land. In college, probably the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
7. What is one thing that you are asking for this year for christmas?
I’m hoping for a wireless keyboard for my Ipad 2.
8. Are you working on another story now? If so what about.
I’m struggling with another young adult novel right now about a boy who suffers from bipolar disorder, but it hasn’t been coming together very well so far.
9. what is your favorite genre that you write?
My favorite genre of book is young adult fantasy because that’s what I write.

10. what is your favorite dessert?
My favorite dessert is lemon meringue pie. After that is a type of candy my mom used to make called peanut butter roll, which is basically divinity candy wrapped up in a roll with peanut butter layers.
11. if you can bring any character from a book to life who would it be and why?
I think if I could bring any character to life it would be Dumbledore from the Harry Potter series. I would like to talk about his educational philosophy.
12.What is your favorite holiday tradition?
This holiday season is going to be tough for us because the Saturday before Thanksgiving my mother died. My favorite holiday tradition was gathering either at my mom and dad’s or my sister’s on Christmas Eve for a big meal. Mom had a special wine punch she made that was absolutely delicious and deadly at the same time.

Once upon a time, a determined seven year old caught Santa sliding down the chimney…Then a ninja elf came and broke Santa out, no net is strong enough to keep out this ninja elf! Off passed the faithful family pet they ran and jumped in the sleigh. They raced to another house but refused to stop when ghosts were there to greet them. Santa doesn’t tangle with ghosts. He doesn’t tangle with vampires, either.  At the next stop, he met a runaway gingerbread man who yelled, “You can’t catch me, I’m the gingerbread man!” Santa didn’t bother to catch him; he had things to do.  On his way to his next delivery, he passed a werewolf jumping out of a plane and dodged a zombie hungry for his brain.  He finally touched down in a nice, normal town full of tidings and great joy…Or did he?Dive into a world of variety—a world of spirit with this Creative Reviews anthology. What better way to celebrate the holiday season than with some short stories that entertain and encompass the true meaning of Christmas? All proceeds of this book will be donated to the NCADV. On the 5th day of Christmas...

Hey Lovelies!
Today is the 5th day of BCPublishing's 12 days of Christmas BOGO!  Today's $10 deal is Sean Sweeney's Zombie Showdown!  Want to know the man behind the Zombies?  Well look no more because Sean has filled out an interview!  Hope you enjoy!

Zombie Showdown
For a group of sophomores at Gardner High School, it turned out to be a class trip gone awry. For 15-year-old twins Christian and Rachel Sanderski, it was the opportunity to tell the truth. A zombie attack while the kids are on a ghost tour forces Christian to save a group of his friends. But when the kids are told of the coming of The Three dead cowboys their ancestor had sent to Boot Hill Cemetery, they steel themselves for the fact that they may never return home. Action and adventure, friends lost and friends found. And love, too…

Interview:
1. How long have you been writing?
I've written professionally since the age of 16, starting as a cub reporter for my local newspaper, the Sentinel & Enterprise. I've worked in newspaper and radio, and I moved on to fiction writing at 25. I still cover sports at my local paper, which "pays the grocery store bill."

2. Where did you get the idea for this book?
Truthfully, I wrote Zombie Showdown on a dare. A friend said, "Write a zombie western." The dare snowballed and became this story of twins who go on a class trip to Tombstone. Of course, with it being the Old West, there would be a chance of gun use. It would be a different weapon than I was used to writing about at the time, since I was more or less a swords and sorcery/sci-fi writer in the summer of 2009. As my thought process evolved, I wanted to write a book my then-13-year-old cousin would read, since he wasn't much of a reader -- and still isn't. At the time, I had just finished up the third Obloeron prequel novel (slated for a 2013 release), and he took peeks of what I had written while I typed away. I decided to make he and his little sister the protagonist twins in the story, and I added a historical twist.

3. What is your favorite thing about writing?
The world building. I love taking an idea and building around it. There are days where I'm bouncing in my seat as I'm plotting and brainstorming my novels. The whole process, from conception to release, is exciting, truth be told, but the world building is what really gets me going.

4. What is your favorite TV show?
I don't watch TV, except for baseball in the spring, summer and fall, and soccer on the weekends. My time is best suited writing, which is why I can crank out four or five novels a year when I'm at my most productive.

5. What did you do when you got your acceptance letter from BCP?
The first thing I did was make sure that the company reclaimed its investment in me and my work. I wanted to make sure that Bruce would give me another shot, if it came down to it. Being a good writer isn’t enough. Being friends with the publisher isn’t enough, either: it helps to have a good relationship with your publisher, yes, but I wanted to make sure that on a business level, I made Bruce enough money so that when I had a project that I believe would be perfect for Bucks County Publishing, he would be able to see the dollar signs.

6. Growing up, what was your favorite book?
Truth be told, I wasn’t a reader until my teen years. The introduction of Grisham as well as the resurgence in the Star Wars universe, the Expanded Universe, came at a critical juncture for me. I loved Grisham’s legal thrillers, and I tore through the Star Wars novels. My mom and I went into the old WaldenBooks in our mall, and while she browsed the romance – read: porn – section, I was in the sci-fi/fantasy section, where there were a few Star Wars books. I turned to mom and said, “Hey ma, can we get those Star Wars books?” She knew my love of the original trilogy – read: able to recite it ad nauseum – and practically scooped the books up into her basket. I still have those books in my library, too.

7. What is one thing that you are asking for this year for Christmas?
Not a thing, other than people enjoying my books. That would make my year.

8. Are you working on another story now? If so what about.
I am. I’m actually about to resume work on a historical romance entitled Eminent Souls, which is set in the waning years of Boston’s Scollay Square (1953-1963). A lot of my books are set in Boston, and Scollay Square is now Government Center/City Hall Plaza, which featured prominently in the start of Model Agent. There is a line in MA that connects the books: “They paved paradise, and put up a parking lot.” You’ll have to read ES in order to get what that means.

9. What is your favorite genre that you write?
I wanted to be a fantasy writer when I started. I loved the work of Tolkien and Salvatore. I still do.  My first four novels were fantasy, and seven of my first nine were fantasy. I’ve gone away from fantasy a bit (even though I continue to release fantasy novels that I wrote a few years ago) and I’m now settled into thrillers. I love keeping people on the edge of their seats now, and what better way to do it than with a pulse-pounder!

10. What is your favorite dessert?
Warm apple pie a la mode. Yum.

11. If you can bring any character from a book to life who would it be and why?
I cannot say on the grounds that my girlfriend will shoot me.

12. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
Every Christmas Eve, we bought Chinese food or subs and had that for dinner. Now that I’m usually alone for the holiday, I have the Chinese food but add in a movie marathon of Christmas movies.

Hey Lovelies! My Publisher's 12 Days of Christmas continues so that you all get to meet another author of the BCP family!  Today is the last children's book before we go into the Young Adult/Adult books so take advantage of the offer of this book being discounted to $10 than being able to pick another book for FREE!  Not only is Sandra Krajewski's book Countdown to Grandma's being spotlighted today, BUT Sandra is agreed to do an interview so that you all can get a chance to meet her!  I hope you all enjoy!

1. How long have you been writing? I have been writing since I was about 8. The first poem I wrote was about the snow outside that was falling.

2. Where did you get the idea for this book? I get my ideas for my books in many forms. As for my children’s books, I suppose it came from teaching and my love for children. Especially very young children, their innocence and how they see the world is very inspiring and humbling for myself as an adult. I am envious of their perspectives on life as they see it…so once I capture even a small bit of it…I want to use it in my writings.

3. What is your favorite thing about writing? I love the fact that God has granted me so much free reign concerning my imagination. This freedom is something I never take for granted and use daily.

4. What is your favorite TV show? Hard one. But probably American Idol…I am also a sucker for the American dream coming true for people who have always had a dream, but not much chance of it happening…As a singer, it makes me happy to see this happen for the contestants.

5. What did you do when you got your acceptance letter from BCP? Of course, I was happy! I had known Bruce previously, and as someone I knew, it was a pleasure to work with him again.

6. Growing up what was your favorite book? I loved poetry of Nikki Giovanni and Judy Blume as well.

7. What is one thing that you are asking for this year for Christmas? Hoping and praying for a wonderful and prosperous New Year with my books and writing career.

8. Are you working on another story now? If so, what about? Yes, I am…it is called SOUTHERN COMFORT about a Quaker woman whose husband owned slaves and her controversial relationship with them.

9. What is your favorite genre that you write? I don’t have a particular favorite…just love to write about what inspires me at the time and go with it.

10. What is your favorite dessert? Peach cobbler

11. If you can bring any character from a book to life who would it be and why? Naomi of Naomi’s Journeys…she is a representative of myself …only wiser and wittier during childhood…not at all like I was…I was very native’ and protected…Naomi is everything I wish I had been with a little bit of time travel and discovery of the love I have for history…now, that I am an adult and have an appreciation for it!

12. What is your favorite holiday tradition? I have two…both Thanksgiving and Christmas and I believe they are my favorite because of the inclusion of family and giving.

Blurb:

to Grandma's for a traditional Thanksgiving meal! Perfect for young children and even
those learning to read! Share Thanksgiving with the entire family!

Day 2 of BOGO 12 Days of Christmas!

Hey Lovelies!
Today is day 2 of my publisher's 12 Days of Christmas!  Today and tomorrow will be more children books before you get more into the Young Adult and Adult.  Today is The Star of Christmas by Bruce Sarte.  Bruce is not only the owner of BCP, but author of a few different stories!  He also filled out my questions for the authors for the 12 Days of Christmas!  So you'll get to know this author!

The Star of Christmas
For God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten son... but how did He choose the star to announce the birth of the Savior? Through this moving story of humilty and service to something bigger than ones self a holiday tradition is born! This fully illustrated story of God's servant is sure to become a staple in your holidays for years to come!

Interview:

1. how long have you been writing?

I've been writing since I was eleven or twelve.  I started out writing lyrics for songs, then learned how to write music and moved on to short stories and novels.

2. where did you get the idea for this book?
The idea for The Star of Christmas came about when I was invited to read out loud at the bonfire at Overly's Country Christmas in Greensburg, PA.  Overly's is avery family oriented Christmas Village so I thought that I should come up with something reasonably short and family friendly that fit well with a Christian family crowd.  Thus The Star of Christmas as a simple story was born.  When I left, Stephanie at Overly's invited me back to read again and I thought that I should expand on the story somewhat — try and give folks something they can take home with them.  I recruited my brother-in-law, Jason Gerick, to do some illustrations and the illustrated holiday story that you see before you is the result.

3. what is your favorite thing about writing?
The same thing as reading… I love escaping into different worlds, different times and different places… and even some fantastical imaginings on events.  Being able to transport myself is the first part of transporting the reader.
4. what is your favorite TV show?
That's a tough one… I think it is either Psych or The Simpsons.
5. what did you do when you got your acceptance letter from BCP?
I proof read it. :)
6. Growing up what was your favorite book?
I think that the first thing that I read that made me want to re-read it over and over again was probably The Scarlett Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne.
7. What is one thing that you are asking for this year for christmas?
A Star Trek Captain Kirk Bathrobe (in yellow of course — see think geek.com) :)
8. Are you working on another story now? If so what about.
I am currently finishing final revisions before editing on Philadelphia Story, a hard boiled detectible thriller.
9. what is your favorite genre that you write?
I've written vampire, paranormal, children's and now detective… and I think the detective genre is my favorite.  It allows me to create heroes and villains in a believable — and unbelievable way.  I find that is thrilling and fun in its own right.
10. what is your favorite dessert?
Crème Brûlée
11. if you can bring any character from a book to life who would it be and why?
Elvis Cole from Robert Crais' novels.  Well, his name IS Elvis after all.  And, more importantly, he has a great sense of the situation within the stories which allows him to be funny and tough at the same time.

12. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
I love decorating the tree each year.  My children get bigger every year (as they should) but watching what the ritual of the tree is to them and how it changes every year is just a lot of fun.

Just also as a reminder my publisher Bucks County Publishing is doing the 12 Days of christmas, I'm trying to convince my BCP family to invade my blog while this event is going on so that you guys can meet them.  Put a voice to those books.  As a reminder the 12 Days of Christmas is each day (here is the list of what book is what day) a different BCP book will be dicounted to $10 instead of it's usual price, then when you are checking out you can pick a FREE book (here's the list).  So I really hope you guys take advantage of it, you can get one for you and one for someone as a gift.  Today is Christmas Stories by Sandra Krajewski

Sandra Krajewski's Christmas Stories contains two heart warming tales of Christmas fun and tradition. In Just 7 Days Until Christmas follow the family as they count down the days until Christmas. In There's A Mouse in Our House, what happens when the traditional Christmas festivities are interrupted by a furry little intruder!
