Where do you find your books?

Hey lovelies! Haha sorry if the eyes creep anyone out, but I was having fun with the old End of the Line cover, to figure out what to do for the new one. I want to keep that image, so I was playing around with paint. I kind of like how the image is the other eye, part of me wishes I could do that as the image on CreateSpace, one eye on the front then the other on the back. Though part of me thinks people would get a little freaked out by that. I might have figured out the new cover though, I think I found one I liked. To the point of this entry! I am trying to think of ways to promote Family Ties since it was just released. Later on when End of the Line is re-release I can use the information again. How do you find books to read? What do you want from the author of the books? What bothers you how books are marketed? Sorry for the questions, but I kind of like hearing how people find out about books. I know I probably should be able to think of this on my own, but I'm open for suggestions :) You scratch my back, I scratch yours! Happy Readings, Ottilie

  1. One of the best ways I find out about new books is by the giveaways on Goodreads. (If you don't know about that, you can find them under the "explore" tab.) I also love book blogs and I like to know what readers who enjoy the same books I do are reading. If I were you, I'd contact a few blogs with good followings and ask them if they would be willing to accept a review copy and maybe run a giveaway. Giveaways are really good at generating buzz. You can also do a FB page just for your book (It's different than a personal one) and the more people who like it, the more exposure you get. Also, a lot of authors are very willing to share secrets. Do some research. Find author sites and see if they post some marketing ideas or things that worked for them. Google is also a great tool. Google, "marketing my book" and see what comes up.

That's my two-cents, which might actually be worth substantially less. ;)

  2. Your two-cents means a lot, so don't sell yourself short! At 5'2'' I know short! I have 3 book blogs that are going to do reviews, and one facebook one who has over 800 people following, and I'm doing an interview and a character interview. Unforunatly I had to wait a little longer ot get copies of FAmily Ties till this upcoming weekend, haha long story. I was thinking of starting a FB page for my book(s) well one for each, I have one for myself but wasn't sure about book. I'll set it up tonight. haha oh google and your searches! Thank you so much!!

  4. Goodreads is always the first place I look for books! Goodreads giveaways also get people to at least check out the book. I think it's a great way to market a new book. Most people will add it to their to read shelf and then their friends see it and look at it. Blog reviews are of course another great way to get the title out there!! I think you're on the right track.

  6. I agree with Goodreads. Also, I find books from visiting blogs. Teens Read Too highlights new books. Good luck with your books.

  8. Right about the eyes creeping me out. Had a hard time reading your post because of them. To answer one question - covers are a help to me. They make the first impression when browsing a store. If they don't catch my eye, I don't bother to look further.

So in this, the "eyes" don't have it.
